Made from some kind of reconstituted soy, obviously

Hey I’m walkin’ here... So here I am, sitting in my hotel room in New York. I’ll be honest, I’m having a blast. I love this city. I love the fact that last night Ross and I went to veggie restaurant and I had fish sticks and half a barbeque chicken (made from some kind of reconstituted soy, obviously).

We’re over in the U.S. of A. to play a show at the Bowery ballroom, and do loads of press and stuff. I’m really looking forward to the show because we haven’t been here in like 2 years or something and it’ll be a good un. ‘This is not the world’ came out a week later in America, so people have had less time to digest it, but we’ll be sure to cram the set with old live favourites as well as new live favourites! Ha.

Dave and I have just done about 30 interviews with college radio stations. I’m sure loads of the interviewers were stoned. It was pretty funny, yet very time consuming. One of them thought I was called Hector. Like I’d be called that, I’d be Achilles: Hector lost! While we were doing that Ross and Barry made pizza on tv. Cheers lads, we’ll get the stoners: you have a laugh. That interview got put in after a propsed chat in a helicopter above Manhattan was cancelled though, so at least I didn’t miss out on that!!

I’m off out for dinner in an hour to meet ‘the American team’. We’re gonna have sushi, which used to mean Baz, Dave and Ross enjoy themselves and I have a shit time; but recently I’ve embraced the whole rice thing, got over my dislike of seaweed and – dare i say it – start to enjoy avocado rolls and miso. If all else fails I’ll just set little challenges for Ross like naming 10 mens wimbledon winners, or 20 US states and their capitals. If he’s lucky: 10 flags with yellow on them. I know, i know, that stuff SOUNDS boring, but it’s relly good fun. No really. No, actually you’re right: I, and it, am boring.

So yeah, we’ve got a packed schedule, but New York is class. I can’t wait to tour the states properly in the Autumn. Sorry, the fall…
